Notice — trademarks and brand assets

The source code of MikeRust is distributed under the AGPL-3.0 license (see LICENSE). This file clarifies what is not covered by that license, to prevent confusion when the project is forked or redistributed.

Trademarks

The following names and visual marks are trademarks of Semplifica s.r.l., and are not licensed under AGPL-3.0:

  • The word mark Semplifica, in any stylisation.
  • The corporate suffix Semplifica s.r.l.
  • The logo asset shipped at frontend/public/semplifica/logo.png (and its source under src/assets/).
  • Any visual identity, colour scheme, or wordmark that identifies a build of this software as the original Semplifica distribution (the "Trade Dress").

The brand mark MikeRust is also reserved by Semplifica s.r.l. to identify the upstream of this repository. Forks are encouraged to keep "based on MikeRust" attribution but to choose a distinct name for the redistributed binary if their changes are substantial.

What this means for downstream users

You have full AGPL-3.0 rights to the code: you may use, study, modify, and redistribute it under the AGPL conditions (including running it as a network service and providing the corresponding source).

You do not automatically receive a trademark licence. If you redistribute or fork this project, please:

  1. Remove or replace the Semplifica wordmark, logo, and any link to https://semplifica.ai if your distribution carries substantive modifications — to avoid implying endorsement by Semplifica s.r.l.
  2. Keep AGPL attribution intact (the source file headers, the LICENSE file, and the legal notices the application surfaces to its users).
  3. If your redistribution is unmodified (e.g. a mirror or a binary build of an unchanged release), you may keep the wordmark and logo as honest attribution. We appreciate it.

This is the same pattern used by other AGPL-3.0 projects with identifiable brand identity (GitLab CE, Mastodon, Nextcloud, Element, Plausible, Akeneo PIM, …). Code is open; brand is reserved; the two regimes coexist.

Third-party trademarks

The following names appear in the source as references to external systems we integrate with, and are trademarks of their respective owners — listed here for clarity, not as a claim:

  • CNIL — Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés.
  • DILA — Direction de l'information légale et administrative.
  • Légifrance, Journal officiel — gouvernement français.
  • EUR-Lex — Publications Office of the European Union.
  • Normattiva, Corte Costituzionale, Gazzetta Ufficiale — Stato italiano.
  • HuggingFace — Hugging Face, Inc.
