(Tech)^US BIT Industry Showcase — 8 October 2026

Notes from the showcase itself, captured the same day. See pilot-plan.md for the next-step plan this feeds into and showcase-test-plan.md for what we went in planning to test.

Results

  • 19 teams presented; 4 teams won.
  • RebootLoop did not place among the 4 winners.
  • 2 people across the event will be offered a shadowing internship — details TBA, not yet announced who.
  • Overall a positive, worthwhile experience; good engagement from judges and attendees.

Feedback received

Mark Sim — Cybersecurity Project Manager, Macquarie University

Liked the presentation video a lot. Suggestion: with only a 3-minute slot, letting the video play through on its own (with subtitles) cost us time we could have clawed back by speaking over it live instead. Speaking over the video rather than narrating via subtitles would let us cover more ground in the same slot.

Action for next time: script a live voiceover for the demo video instead of relying on subtitles + autoplay, to fit more content in a short slot.

Andrew Friar — Chief Technology Officer, Macquarie University

Suggested reaching out to MobileMuster directly rather than waiting for them to respond to the earlier contact attempt:

  • Find MobileMuster's Managing Director on LinkedIn and reach out directly.
  • Check their LinkedIn connections for anyone on the team's existing network.
  • Do the same for MobileMuster's board members — check connections, reach out.

Action for next time: do this LinkedIn outreach (MD + board members, checking for existing mutual connections first). Not yet done as of this note — a deliberate follow-up, not an oversight.
