Higher playback speeds

Duplicate of #178, but I decided making a new one might be better.

Right now, most apps come with more than 2x speed - even YouTube supports 3x with Premium, and extensions like Video Speed Controller come with up to 16x by default. I believe the cap should be raised much higher, and leave it up to the user if they want to increase the speed further (similar to increasing audio by more than 100%).

If necessary, it could be hidden behind a setting toggle, although I believe that to be unnecessary.

What this issue description is missing is the reason "why do we need it?" (other than just because some other apps have it) 😄 .

How does this benefit an average user? Why not just seek forward instead? I doubt anyone seriously watches anything at 16x speed.

At > 2x 60fps it just turns into a massacre for GPU.

Also in cases of online streaming services, such high speed often leads to IP ban under suspicion of content ripping/downloading.

That's fair; my specific use case is scrubbing through some VODs, where I know the general location of an event - sometimes scrubbing through it is a bit inconvenient. It's probably not a large use case, though.

You probably know more about this than I do 😅, but from a technical perspective I don't think it would be a massacre - I sometimes watch YouTube videos at 2.5-3x speed. Once again, though, I think it can be left to the user whether they want to use it - hence my suggestion of putting it behind a settings toggle with a label of 'warning: your GPU might explode'

Possibly, but also one thing that would need to be done here is to somehow adapt the OSD for uneven range.
