Add Repository Contribution Distribution Chart Below Contribution Heatmap

I’d like to propose adding a Repository Contribution Distribution Chart (pie chart or bar chart) below the Contribution Heatmap section on the dashboard.

This feature would help users visualize which repositories they contribute to the most and identify less-worked-on repositories to balance their activity better. It would also effectively utilize the empty space below the heatmap section and enhance the analytics experience of the dashboard.

Possible additions:

Pie/bar chart for repository-wise commits
Hover tooltips with commit counts
Percentage contribution per repository
Responsive design matching the existing UI

I would like to work on this issue under GSSoC 2026.

I have reviewed the requirement and understand that the dashboard currently has empty space below the Contribution Heatmap section. I will use that space to add a Repository Contribution Distribution Chart so users can clearly see which repositories they contribute to the most.

Approach

I will first inspect how the current dashboard fetches and displays GitHub activity/contribution data. Based on the available data structure, I will calculate repository-wise contribution counts, mainly using commits or activity entries grouped by repository.

Then I will add a visual chart below the Contribution Heatmap section. The chart can be either a pie chart or a bar chart depending on what fits best with the existing UI. It will show:

• repository-wise contribution count
• percentage share of each repository
• hover tooltips with repository name and commit/activity count
• responsive layout for mobile, tablet, and desktop screens

I will also make sure the chart follows the existing dashboard theme, spacing, colors, and card styling so it feels like a natural part of the analytics section instead of a separate component.

I will test the feature with different repository contribution data cases, including users with many repositories, few repositories, and no contribution data, so the UI handles all states properly.

Additional idea: the chart section could also support filtering contributions by timeframe (weekly/monthly/all-time) to make repository activity insights more interactive and useful for users.
