Working definition

Astera is a contextual world data platform that aggregates environmental, geographic, marine, astronomy, risk and activity-related data into a single API and dashboard.

Astera should answer practical questions such as:

• Is this a good time to fly a drone?
• Is tonight suitable for stargazing or astrophotography?
• Is the tide/weather safe for a coastal walk?
• What is the world state for this location and time?

Relationship to Shunt

Shunt can consume Astera data for games, but Astera is not game-specific. Astera should be useful for apps, dashboards, outdoor tools, simulations, education, writers and developers.

Acceptance criteria

• Write a short vision statement
• Define Astera's core users
• Define the first MVP use cases
• Define what Astera is not
• Confirm how Astera and Shunt remain separate but compatible
