Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled

Hi,

I am new to the Gentoo Linux distribution. I am trying to install Python 3.10 by setting the PYTHON_VER variable to 3.10 along with 24.06 tag. However, during the build process, I noticed that it is pulling the latest Gentoo version, which has a dependency on Python 3.12. As a result, it is trying to install both versions, which ultimately fails with the following error message. I would appreciate it if you could assist me in resolving this issue.

Hi Ajay,

These build scripts are designed to pull in all the latest stuff from Gentoo portage.

I'm not sure what is the best way to "downgrade" Python to 3.10. Most likely you would need to:

1. Stop the build at some point.
2. Go inside the build root by using the -i option (interactive mode).
3. Manually adjust PYTHON_TARGETS and PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET to only specify Python 3.10.
4. Resume the build.

Alternatively, you could modify the build script to do this somewhere inside the prepare_portage() function, but it might require some trial and error.

The Gentoo Linux documentation is a great source for all the information you might need.
