Personal account stuck in Enterprise loop (Ghost Project ID: tenacious-tine-v5jhs)

My personal account is being misidentified as an Enterprise account, forcing a project ID requirement that I cannot clear.

Symptoms:

Project ID `tenacious-tine-v5jhs` (which I never created) keeps reappearing in VS Code settings.

Setting `geminicodeassist.project` to `""` or deleting it does not work; it is re-injected upon authentication.

Extension version: `2.70.0` (tried downgrading to `2.63.0`, no change).

Troubleshooting already performed:

Deleted `%AppData%\Roaming\cloud-code` and `%AppData%\Code\User\globalStorage\google.gcloud-code`.

Ran `gcloud config unset project` (found via Program Files).

Deleted `.gemini` folder in workspace.

Signed out/in multiple times.

Request: Please reset the server-side project binding for my account so it can correctly route to the "Individual" tier.

Same problem for me, and even setting it to an existing project does not fix the agent mode. Chat-Mode is working fine though no matter which project ID is set. Personal Account with paid subscription.

Agent mode requests results in errors in the Gemini Code Assist Output like:

Problem Description: I am a Gemini Pro Individual subscriber being incorrectly forced into an Enterprise "Project Selection" workflow. Despite being an individual user, the extension is stuck attempting to bind to a non-existent or inaccessible project ID: xerotic-vector-tll0l.

Steps Taken (All Failed):

Full Local Wipe: Deleted ~/.config/Code, globalStorage, and workspaceStorage multiple times to clear local cache.

Project Deletion: Created a new project (lotus-gemini-v2) and assigned "Owner," "Service Usage Consumer," and "Cloud AI Companion User" roles, but the extension still returns Permission 'cloudaicompanion.companions.generateChat' denied.

Settings Sync Conflict: Manually deleted geminicodeassist.project from settings.json, but the ghost ID xerotic-vector-tll0l is restored from the cloud immediately upon saving, even when added to settingsSync.ignoredSettings.

UI Dead End: The Gemini sidebar is stuck on "Select a Google Cloud Project" with no option to skip or select "Gemini for Individuals".

Requested Action: Please clear any server-side project bindings for my account and reset my "User Tier" to g1-pro-tier (Individual) so the extension stops requiring a Google Cloud Project ID.

I am having the exact same issue. the extension in my linux VS Code keeps adding "copper-cache-b2hpz" over and over no matter how many times I try to remove it. Ive been fighting this for the last 2 days my self trying to get this to work with my Pro plan.

This setting returns consistently, no matter how many times I sign out, delete, and sign in. If I delete it from my settings and hit save, I see the Gemini chat bar quickly blast past the "To use Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise, you need to select a Google Cloud project" screen below.

I am also experiencing the exact same issue with my $20 individual subscription. Deleting the project ID doesn't work as it keeps reappearing.

Same Issue. I'm using Google AI Pro , but I must "Select a Google Cloud project"

For anyone else on this issue: I've switched to Google Antigravity, as that works very well with the AI Pro subscription. 👍

Same issue here. Every time I sign in, it tries to use the project "autonomous-signal-55bll," which as far as I can tell doesn't exist. I have Google AI Ultra and do use the Google Cloud Console, but only the free trial, and none of my projects match that name.

Same here, Google AI pro subscriber, oauth forces me to use standard or enterprise and extension selects non existing project "geminicodeassist.project": "pivotal-bridge-h89jl" which reappears automatically even if I remove it
