Hi,

I have set up the Deployment share with https and successfully deploy virtual machines in a test environment. Now I wanted to test deploy a hardware device for driver tests and have encountered this error:

FIrst, I thought it's the drivers, but after disabling every Set-Driver... and inject driver step, the TS just breaks/stops at the step install operating system, closes the progress window and runs into the picture above.

The hardware device supports win 11, it was installed before.

Perhaps this is relevant: The Servers are in hyper v and switched to the hardware device, generally the hardware device gets a connection to the VMs.

It could be multiple things, but i would first make sure your drivers are correctly being identified for injection in the task sequence you are running on the device you are trying to image.

I personally use the %Model% variable (which uses the value by "Make" in Windows PE) instead of %ModelAlias% since i'd rather not have a bunch of different device driver profiles to manage and this way has worked for us so far (we only have Dell and Lenovo-branded devices).

After that is confirmed to work, have you placed anything extra inside the scripts folder? if so, how large?

At first i had placed a large folder of files in the scripts folder that would be then placed on the local desktop folder at a later time using a command line step in a task sequence using the %ScriptRoot% variable. This would cause the task sequence to error out with similar error you have right.

After learning that PSD caches all of items to install once in Windows, i removed the folder from the scripts folder and just made an application which uses xcopy in the install command to move the large folder instead.

I did set Windows 11%Model%, because Ive read about this solution in another Issue. However, it doesnt resolve the issue.
Additionally, the problem with the breaking task sequence comes up even if Driver etc is disabled and I just want to install W11. That is why I believe, the problem is not with drivers. I can not say if the drivers are correctly identified, because i dont get that far (if the drivers are enabled. I enabled them in the TS, then it breaks at the point Install OS)

I have one script in the scripts folder, a little .ps1 with 2 KB.
I haven't been able to try another hardware device yet. Perhaps it is device bound, but no idea.

I had the same failure. For me it was a wrong path in a tasksequence step in step "Install Operating System"

Thanks for that, I havent had the chance to look into it yet. Are you able to specify what the path was exactly? And how you resolved it?

It looks like a "path" issue in the Task Sequence, if possible, could we have the PSDDriver.log and the Task Sequence XML, just post a link to them, not the entire content.

Sorry for this very late reply. I have and will not put further effort into this, because MDT is now officially deprecated, so I wont use PSD either. I will close this ticket, thanks everyone.
