In the HPSF Binaries WG meeting today it was mentioned that it could be interesting to create a container with a selection of packages in EESSI for offline use. From the CernVM-FS side, the best option would be to use shrinkwrap, ideally after its re-implementation with the partial replication feature cvmfs/cvmfs#4184
Shrinkwrap works on a list of paths in /cvmfs/software.eessi.io, so the cli would also ideally translate a list of modules into paths on /cvmfs, and include everything else it needs from the compatibility layer.
