EssentialsX Chat does not support custom placeholders by itself.

BentoBox uses PlaceholderAPI to display placeholders, so you would need to either add something that injects PlaceholderAPI placeholders into Essentials Chat (a long ago there was ChatInjector).

Or you could switch to different chat plugin that nativly supports PlaceholderAPI placeholders.
