Clarification on "Source of Truth" for openGrid openSCAD files

Hello! Thanks a lot for the work on openGrid and the associated ecosystem.

I am writing to ask for clarification regarding the repository structure to help new users (like myself) navigate the project better.

I see some openGrid openSCAD files reside in this repository, but there is also a dedicated repository at https://github.com/openGrid-3D/openGrid-openSCAD. Which repository is considered the "source of truth" for these files? Is the openGrid-openSCAD repository deprecated, or are there specific use cases for it?

I would be happy to open a PR to add a section to the project documentation to help orient future beginners.

openGrid-3D/openGrid-openSCAD is the source of truth. What you see in this repository is a link to the official one so there is no duplicated code. In Linux this concept would be know as a symlink and is very common in the git world.

What am I missing? All I see in the referenced repo is a single beta/monokini subdirectory with 5 *channel.scad files last touched 11 months ago. That hardly seems like the official source for anything currently.

Same question. I was especially looking for the tile reference geometry (corners, connector profiles, etc), I don't think it's in https://github.com/openGrid-3D/openGrid-openSCAD.

Hi guys, this is a decision that isn't yet clear, there are a few maintainers that had some historical versions, this repository housed Underware for Multigrid, and then added versions that supported openGrid. Monokini is my private repo where I test most changes, but isn't public, all code is open on their respective Makerworld models on the customizer, just copy and reuse. The openGrid-3D was a first attempt to create a set repository for related openGrid documentation and files, but it takes a great effort to maintain. In summary, it's already very hard to keep the MW updated, to have a set of PR, and users requesting issues, comments and introducing changes it makes it even harder to run. There is no incentive to do it on GitHub for me.

@pleite that's awesome and I can't speak for the OP here, but I don't think this issue was posted as a demand for you or anyone else to do things in a specific way. More just to understand how to best know how and where things currently are and the best place to find the "official source of truth". When @pbpc-terrance said that an openGrid-3d repo is the official repo for openGrid models, and that repo doesn't even have the openGrid models, it was confusing so I asked for clarification.

Your work is appreciated in making open models and sharing the code wherever you share it. Any shared code adds to the community's shared knowledge and resources.

Since I caused these updates, and confusion let me clarify.

The source of truth:

Since there is no public openscad (my mistake for not checking the repo on it is was empty or not) it seems like this repo is the defacto closest option to the source of truth for opengrid and openscad until David chooses to publish one.
