Crash on trying to open advancement progress

I'm encountering an issue where the game crashes every time I view the progress for any multi-task advancement (It started happening when I tried to open the Details on "Poseidon vs. Hades" in the Weaponry tab to check the remaining mobs to kill with a trident, but crashes no matter which advancement I try to view the details of). I was able to view this info perfectly normally just minutes earlier.

Yup same thing is happening to me. Can we get some sort of acknowledgement from the packdev?

Thanks for the report! I've identified that the crash is caused by a logic error in the advancement sorting. Currently, I'm focused on other major features/updates, so I can't push a fix and update modpack. As a temporary workaround, you can add

-Djava.util.Arrays.useLegacyMergeSort=true

to your JVM launch arguments. This should prevent the crash.

For example, if you use Prism, go to Instance settings > Java > Java Arguments (check it) and paste it into the field below.

Thanks for the reply and the workaround! It fixed itself after a while but I'll try your solution if it happens again.

One more unrelated question: I am playing Chaos mode and am pretty far along and have unlocked every ability except for eating raw salmon because it says it is locket permanently for some reason? I don't really know what to do there because eating salmon is required for several achievements... I know I can give me the advancement via command but I'm just confused what the intended solution is, since it seems to be a deliberate design choice and not a bug given it has special red text in the interface.

@JayJaden This is a separate game design question, but I'll answer it here. This mode isn't intended to unlock all achievements, but rather to unlock abilities in a randomized environment (something like a roguelike). When I was designing it, I was thinking something like, "The player will definitely be able to find other achievements, completing which will increase the counter and eventually unlock all the abilities, and after that, they'll consider themselves the winner of this mod."

I'll think about this more in the next update. For example, we could make it so all permanents are destroyed if the player has unlocked all the other abilities.

If you don't like this now and it's interfering with your gameplay, I recommend disabling these permanents. You can do this by opening the .minecraft/config/achievetodo/chaos_{/seed}.toml file and change the eat_salmon value from -1 to 0. (You must exit the world before editing the file.)
