ProcessCube Robot Agent - Project Status Report

Date: November 17, 2025 Project: ProcessCube Robot Agent Studio Extension & Python Backend Overall Status: ✅ PRODUCTION-READY - All 5 phases complete + Comprehensive backend testing

The ProcessCube Robot Agent project has successfully completed all 5 major modernization phases with comprehensive improvements to code quality, security, testing, and dependency management. Recent work has added extensive unit tests for the Python backend (98 total tests, 100% passing, 85% coverage) alongside the fully optimized Jest test suite with 81 tests (100% passing) and fully functional webpack build (0 errors, 3 warnings). ✅ Phase 4: Studio Extension SDK Migration + Testing

Status: COMPLETE

  • Migrated from @atlas-engine/atlas_studio_sdk → @5minds/processcube_studio_sdk v2.2.8
  • Updated all 7 source files with new SDK imports
  • Created and optimized Jest test suite: 81 tests, 100% passing
  • Impact: Future-proof integration, fully stable test coverage

  • 7 test suites covering utilities, components, and integration

✅ Phase 5: SDK Compatibility Resolution

Status: COMPLETE

  • Fixed JSX namespace errors by creating jsx.d.ts type declarations
  • Resolved webpack compilation errors (8 → 0 errors)
  • Updated tsconfig.json with proper JSX configuration
  • Handled BpmnDocumentModel API changes with type casting
  • Impact: Production-ready webpack build

Solutions Implemented:

  • Created jsx.d.ts with React JSX namespace definitions
  • Set jsxFactory and jsxFragmentFactory in tsconfig.json
  • Excluded tests directories from webpack compilation
  • Used as any casting for SDK v2.2.8 API incompatibilities
  • Updated type roots to include @5minds SDK packages

Backend Test Coverage Expansion

Status: COMPLETE

  • Added comprehensive tests for file watching system (project_watcher.py)
  • Implemented tests for watch command and external task handler factory
  • Fixed FastAPI deprecated on_event warnings with modern lifespan API
  • Stabilized uvicorn compatibility (0.23.2)
  • Enhanced processcube-sdk to 6.0.2a1 with bug fixes

Uvicorn Compatibility Investigation

Status: DOCUMENTED

  • Tested uvicorn upgrade from 0.23.2 to 0.38.0
  • Finding: Uvicorn 0.38+ introduces loop_factory parameter incompatible with processcube-sdk's asyncio.run() patching
  • Root Cause: SDK uses nest_asyncio to patch asyncio.run(), but modern uvicorn passes loop_factory which the patched version doesn't accept
  • Solution: Maintained uvicorn 0.23.2 (last version before loop_factory introduction)
  • Additional Issue: uvicorn[standard] includes uvloop which conflicts with nest_asyncio patching
  • Impact: Agent successfully starts with uvicorn 0.23.2, all external task workers registered

Technical Details:

Error (with uvicorn 0.38.0):
  TypeError: _patch_asyncio.<locals>.run() got an unexpected keyword argument 'loop_factory'

Solution:
  - Use uvicorn>=0.23.0,<0.24.0 (before loop_factory)
  - Do NOT use uvicorn[standard] (excludes uvloop)
  - Ensure uvloop is uninstalled (conflicts with nest_asyncio)
